Special offer: the Black Static foursome for just £45!
Posted by Paul Raven on August 24th, 2009 at 21:03
Remember me saying how chuffed I was to see four strong reviews from Pete Tennant of Black Static last week?
If you’ve forgotten, fine things were said about Sarah Pinborough’s The Language Of Dying (“highly recommended”), Robert Freeman Wexler’s The Painting And The City (“uniquely his own”), Marly Youmans’ Val/Orson (“lucid with intelligence”) and Shrike (“the landscape of a mind”).
Well, it turns out that PS head honcho Pete was pretty stoked too… stoked enough to put together a special package deal on the books in question, no less. Take it away, Mr Crowther:
We’re so bowled over with the reviews of these four titles that we’re making it very easy for you to see for yourself what all the fuss is about.
Under normal circumstances, the trade editions of these four titles would cost £54 plus postage (£2 per book inside the UK or £4 elsewhere) — that’s an additional £8 in the UK (£62) or £16 outside (£70).
In this special offer, the price if you buy all four together is just £45 post-free in the UK or £50 post-free outside. So don’t delay — order today!
You heard the man – click on through and place an order before he sobers up changes his mind! ;)
Win £150 worth of books in our easy-to-enter competiton
Posted by Paul Raven on January 16th, 2009 at 9:00
This may be the simplest competition you enter this month…
Take 30 seconds to sign up to the PS Publishing mailing list and you’ll be in with the chance to win:
- A new three-book Ray Bradbury gift set, presented in decorative slipcase, worth £100
- A deluxe edition of Joe Hill’s Gunpowder, also in a slipcase, worth £50 (and now sold out)
Both are serious collector’s items as well as beautiful books and amazing stories in their own right. And this is your chance to win one of them.
How to be eligible to win
As I said, all you have to do is to sign up to the PS Publishing mailing list. If you’re already signed up, you’ve got it even easier – you’re already in the running, and don’t need to do a thing!
Relax – we hate spam too
That’s why we only send email to people who’ve asked us to, and why we keep it relevant and low-volume. Your email address will be safe with us, and only used to keep you up-to-date with all the good stuff from PS Publishing.
What happens if I don’t win?
If you don’t win this time, don’t worry. Once a month, we’ll let you know all about our latest releases and special offers — before anyone else. And when we do, we’ll randomly pick an address from our mailing list, and that lucky person will automatically win a prize.
That gives you 12 chances to win in 2009!
What’s in it for us?
Well, we get to tell you all about our latest books, of course!
See, we truly believe that we produce fantastic books for true genre bibliophiles, and we want you to know about them.
I know what you’re thinking: “Hey, I could just delete the emails and still have an equal chance of winning!” And guess what – you’d be right, and we accept that.
But we like to think you’ll take a peek anyway. Your favourite writer could appear in next month’s mailing, and you might miss the chance to snap up a collectible edition… or one of our periodical bargains and special offers.
One email a month, about new books by writers you like… what could be better?
What you need to do
It’s ridiculously easy – you click through to the PS Publishing Contact page, and fill in your name and email address in the little form half-way down before clicking ‘Subscribe to the List’.
We’ll then send you a confirmation email (to make sure no one signs you up without your permission); you click the link in the email, and you’re all done!
Sign up now to win free books!
This month’s newsletter will go out on or around January 30th – that means you have just two weeks to join the list and win one of these two exclusive prizes!
So what are you waiting for? Go and sign up – we’ve got great things to tell you!
The not-so-small print
- All persons signed up to the regular PS Publishing newsletter mailing list are eligible to win the giveaway each and every month for as long as PS Publishing decides to carry on with this promotion; addresses found only on the ‘Reviewers and Editors’ list for receiving review copies are not eligible, and will need to be added to both. Don’t worry, the software checks for duplicates, you’ll only ever get one of each email. And no spam, ever – we promise.
- To claim your prize, you will need to respond to an email from PS Publishing telling you that you are a winner, and provide us with your name and mailing address so we can send your prize. By doing so, you agree that we can publicly name you as the winner in the next newsletter (so everyone can see we’re really giving stuff away to real people). We won’t publicise your email address, or even your location if you don’t want us to. If we don’t hear from you within fourteen days of our email, we will pick a new winner.
- There is nothing to prevent you from winning more than once; if you’re on the mailing list, you’re eligible every time.
- The decisions of the random number generator and the PS Publishing staff are final; they will also be made with the honesty and straight dealing that we pride ourselves on as a company. That said, we reserve the right to cancel this promotion at any time, and likewise to alter the giveaway item without prior notice (though we sincerely hope never to have to do either).
Download Jeff VanderMeer’s ‘The Situation’, FREE, from Wired.com
Posted by Darren on March 5th, 2008 at 9:39
Canadian journalist Brad Moon has interviewed Jeff and Ann VanderMeer for Wired.com’s GeekDad blog and to mark the occasion, we’ve supplied a pdf copy of Jeff’s forthcoming chapbook / novelette, The Situation and made it available as a free download from the blog.wired.com/geekdad article.
That’s right folks, if you’d like to try before you buy, simply head on over and grab the pdf, then put the printer on or transfer the file to your e-reader of choice. Once you’re done, high-tail it over to the PS Webstore to place your pre-order; the book should be back from the printers and shipping at the end of the third week in March.
Quick word to the wise: we’re only printing 200 copies of the signed, numbered, jacketed hardcover edition and around a hundred of those are already accounted for by pre-order customers, so you may have to be quick to secure your copy.
Finished Cover: ‘The Saved’ by Joe Hill
Posted by Darren on November 23rd, 2007 at 17:53
Here’s the finished cover, wrap-around style, for Joe Hill‘s chapbook The Saved, with artwork by PS regular James Hannah:

As we announced earlier in the year, The Saved is this year’s bonus chapbook for subscribers to Postscripts magazine, so the only way to get hold of a copy when it’s published will be if you’re a current and paid-up subscriber when issue #13 of the magazine is sent out.
More information on the Subscriptions page of the PS Webstore, if you’re tempted…
Christmas Last Ordering Date: November 28th, plus: 50% Sale Extended to December 31st!
Posted by Darren on November 13th, 2007 at 18:57
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The PS Publishing office will be closed between November 30th and December 13th this year. Therefore, if you want to buy books from us for attempted Christmas delivery, please place your order no later than November 28th, to give us time to process your order.
Orders placed on or after November 30th will be queued and processed during the week commencing December 17th. Unfortunately this is after the last posting dates for both Royal Mail and our parcel carrier DHL. As a result, those orders will, most likely, be delivered between Christmas and the New Year, or quite possibly during the first couple of weeks of January.
If you have any questions about Christmas Delivery, please send them to our main enquiry email address:
enquiries [at] PSPublishing [dot] co [dot] uk
If, on the other hand, you’re not in a rush to get your books by Christmas, then we have some very good news for you:
The Current PS Sale – 50% off all pre-2007 book titles – will be extended to the end of December 2007.
We’ve had a number of emails from customers and friends suggesting that it would be a great idea if they could spend their Christmas pennies on the PS Sale, and who are we to disagree?
December 31st is therefore the new cut-off date for the sale, and that will definitely be it. No more extensions, no more titles added, nothing. Given that this is our first and only sale in eight years of publication, this could quite easily be the only sale for quite some time…
And don’t forget, sale prices only apply while stocks of individual titles last, so the longer you leave it, the higher the chances that you’ll miss out.
PS Sale Progress – Low Stock Alert!
Posted by Darren on November 13th, 2007 at 18:50
Our current special offer – 50% off all book titles published before 2007 – has been a huge success since we launched it on October 15th and the books have been almost literally flying out of the warehouse.
As a result, we’re now down to fewer than 25 copies of the following titles.
- Light Stealer [jhc] by James Barclay
- Mayflower II [jhc] by Stephen Baxter
- Secret Stories [sc] by Ramsey Campbell
- Told by the Dead [sc] by Ramsey Campbell
- Jigsaw Men [jhc] by Gary Greenwood
- Jigsaw Men [pb] by Gary Greenwood
- The Lost Poetry of William Hope Hodgson [jhc] ed. by Jane Frank
- By Moonlight Only [jhc] ed. by Stephen Jones
- The Uglimen [jhc] by Mark Morris
- Nowhere Near an Angel [sc] by Mark Morris
- Cinema Macabre [jhc] ed. by Mark Morris
- Michael Marshall Smith: The Annotated Bibliography [pb] ed. by Lavie Tidhar
- Flavors of My Genius [jhc] by Steven Utley
- In Springdale Town [pb] by Robert Freeman Wexler
Order sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment if there’s something in that list that you’ve had your eye on for a while, because once it’s gone, it’s gone…
We’re also low on several back-issues of Postscripts magazine. They’re not included in the sale, but we thought we should take this opporuntity to let you know, in case you have any gaps in your collection:
- Issue #1 [pb]
- Issue #3 [pb]
- Issue #4 [hc]
- Issue #5 [pb]
- Issue #6 [hc]
- Issue #8 [pb]
- Issue #8 [hc]
- Issue #9 [pb]
- Issue #10 [hc, unsigned]

New PS Publishing Website! And a 50% discount sale…
Posted by Darren on October 15th, 2007 at 10:45
Yes, folks, it’s finally here! The all new, all-signing, all-dancing, e-commerce enabled PS Website is now live at http://store.pspublishing.co.uk!
The old site might be operational for a day or two yet while I check and fine-tune the new version, but once everything is in place you’ll hardly notice that the URL has changed… although you’re sure to notice the improved functionality and user-friendliness of the new site.
No more sending credit card details split across two emails, no more faxing orders through and sending a separate cheque… from now on, buying your books direct from PS is just a few mouse-clicks, a couple of personal details and a credit card number away.
Please do visit the new site, have a look around and let us know what you think, by sending any feedback via the Contact page. And of course, while you’re there, you could always test the new e-commerce functionality by buying something… ;)
And to make that an even more tempting prospect for you:
SALE! SALE! SALE!
50% off all pre-2007 books, while stocks last!
We wanted to do something special to mark the launch of the new site, so we’ve decided to hold the first ever PS Publishing discount sale, and we’ve knocked a massive 50% off the price of all pre-2007 books (back-issues of Postscripts not included) in our Current Catalogue.
The discount will be applied automatically as you place the items into the shopping basket (please note that the usual postage costs will still apply).
The offer will run until the end of November 2007 (perfect for a spot of early Xmas shopping for the bibliophile in your life…) and will apply to individual titles only while stocks last. The stock levels of some of the titles included are running pretty low already, so if you’re tempted to buy something at a bargain price, then you probably shouldn’t hang around too long, because once a title is out of stock in a particular edition, it’s gone; we’re not planning on re-printing.
If you have any questions about the sale, please drop us a line via service [at] pspublishing.co.uk and we’ll do our best to get back to you just as quickly as we can, although please do bear with us – we hope to be very busy in the mail room for the next few weeks!
Special Offer: Free Postage on all pre-orders until September 30th
Posted by Darren on September 13th, 2007 at 13:42
To mark our major schedule update announcement we’re making this special offer until the end of September 2007:
Free Postage on all pre-publication orders placed before October 1st 2007!
That’s right, if you pre-order any items from our list of forthcoming titles and complete your order by September 30th* (full payment has to reach us by that date to qualify) then we won’t charge you our usual postal rates for those books. The book(s) will be sent out as soon as they’re published by our usual first class / international airmail carriers (as applicable).
Take a look at our recent schedule update announcement and that list of forthcoming titles to see what’s included in the offer – there’s around fifty new titles to browse through, so we’re sure you’ll find something to tempt you!
See the how to order page of the site for further details on placing an order with us.
*Not September 31st, as previously advertised. Much as we’d love to add an extra day to the month so that you can place another 24 hours’ worth of orders with us, we’re still working on the technical details of that one… ;)
